Shana
Chef
Shana has been interested in food and
cooking since she can remember. Growing up in the Portland
area, she watched her mom cook often-exotic menus and this
taught her to try many new and different foods. As she grew older, she became intrigued
with wide range of new and exciting ingredients as well
as dishes from many parts of the world.
Perhaps
the event that most solidified her love for food was a four-month
study abroad opportunity she had in Guadalajara, Mexico. As
a biology major in college, her focus on science had shielded
her life-long interest in cooking. Her daily exposure to AUTHENTIC
Mexican food during her travels revived her original idea
of a
career in the culinary arts.
While
working a short time in Seattle as a cancer research technician,
Chef Shana realized that food was still her passion. She attended
six months of training in the Culinary Arts Program
at the
Art Institute of Seattle, then, after moving back to Portland,
decided to begin Ready, Set, Eat! Inc. Personal Chef Service.
Shana’s business goals are to steadily expand her business,
allowing for busy people to eat well-balanced meals as well
as offering positions as personal chefs to people with a passion
for food.
As
a perfect opportunity to incorporate her science background
with foods, Shana is very interested in creating menus for
specialty diets. This can include people with food allergies
(gluten/wheat, casein/dairy, or individual ingredients) or
medical setbacks (such as diabetes, high cholesterol, etc).
Chef Shana has also had experience incorporating nutritional
recommendations from personal trainers and nutritionists into
menus, allowing for clients to receive the correct allocation
of calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat in their menu.
Chef
Shana’s commitment is to provide healthy,
nutritionally-balanced meals to busy couples and families
